Making a natural style Japanese garden (part 4)
I have already finished writing about the car parking lot and the garden path up until now. If you haven’t read the previous episodes, please check them up before reading this article.
I am going to write about a wooden fence and soil improvement at this time.
As you may know, there is a variety of bamboo fence in Japan. Like Kenninji-gaki to Yotsume-gaki…Compared with them, a wooden fence is always simple and easy to make.
First, we installed stones that support wooden pillars along the concrete block fence. This is the most important part of the making wooden fence because if it’s not horizontal or parallels each other, wooden pillars stand not appropriately.
While making the fence, we also finished up the stepping stones. I walked on the stones, again and again, to find the best position and balance each of them.
This is the result of the fence and stones. The wooden fence was completed and stepping stones were waiting for new soil coming to their underneath.
The reason why we kept open the underpart of the fence was because of the customer’s request. They wanted to have a space between fence and earth so that they can feel unencumbered.
After finishing the fence part, we mixed 10t of black soil which contains organic matter into the earth and improved soil condition.
The white color path looks better with black soil.
In the next chapter, I will write about planting and this series would be finished!
See you soon!
