A cherry blossom tree at our customer’s place
Today, I visited my customers garden. I trimmed their cherry blossom tree using my rope work. I was a little worried about the condition of this tree since I cut off some huge branch previously; I was worried about how the tree would look in full bloom. However, after I came to visit and see the tree, all my worries disappeared. The cherry blossoms bloomed beautifully, and now the leaves are growing in the flowers place. The tree looks healthy and beautifully complements my customers home.
By the way, when it comes to a Japanese cherry blossom, I think you imagine Yoshino Cherry (Prunus × yedoensis) since it is the most famous Japanese cherry blossom tree all over the world and you can see almost everywhere in Japan. However in Edo periods, Yamazakura were more common, and people enjoy “Hanami” under Yamazakura trees.
Yoshino Cherry has been started cultivating in Somei village (current Toshima-ku, Tokyo) around the end of the Edo period, and spread all over Japan during the Meiji era. Since it is a hybrid cherry of between Oshima zakura (Prunus speciosa) and Edo higan (Prunus pendula f.ascendens), it has inherited beatuful feature like blooms before coming leave (Edo higan) and has huge flowers (Oshima zakura).
It is nice to enjoy Japanese beauty from the window of a house. I hope I can maintain and support this tree for many years to come.
