Born in Sappro, Hokkaido, Japan.

He grew up in Saitama, an environment where nature and people coexist in a rural town with a stream inhabited by fireflies, rural scenery, and satoyama, which became the starting point of his landscape design.

He majored in bioscience and received a Master’s in Science and Technology from Keio University. After graduation, he worked as an overseas sales representative for a trading company. At that time, he realized the importance of greenery in urban areas. While working, he decided to become a landscape architect, studying landscape design at Kyoto University of Art and Design.

After that, he worked in the Kanetsuna landscape design office as a landscaper to make tea gardens and FUJI UEKI Co., Ltd., as a landscape designer and constructor foreman for large-scale Japanese gardens.

Established Ryoji Nakayama Landscape Design in 2019.
